Len had been online for what seemed like forever, he’d met his first husband on a hook up site (before cellphones there were hookup sites).  They told their friends it was a “dating” site, but it was definitely a hookup site. It worked much the same as today’s apps, but you were tethered to your browser.  It was still pretty quick; you could have the man of your choice in your bed in minutes.  Or be left hanging (we call it being ghosted these days).  Len had been married for 15 years when things came to a slow and tedious end.  It wasn’t dramatic, there was no anger, just two people that drifted so far apart they couldn’t find their way back again.  They said goodbye and parted as friends. His cell phone rang at 3:30 am.  John came awake at the sound and reached for the phone.  He saw Al’s name and sat up in bed as he answered the call.  “Hello?” he said, still not quite awake. The line was quiet.   “Hello?” He said again, “Al?” The silence stretched on for a few moments.   As he waited for a reply, he thought back over the last 30 years. He recalled that Adam had contacted him and confessed to experimenting sexually with his father, not something that had shocked John.   Adam had cried a bit and said while things had physically worked, it wasn’t something either of them wanted to repeat.   He then confessed that he was in love with John and that John was all he wanted. He wanted to be with John and only him, going forward.   John had asked him what about Al?, Adam admitted that his father would like to pursue a relationship with Al.
